Sanja Erceg Vrekalo
Sanja Erceg Vrekalo academic musician and professor of solo singing. She finished elementary music education in Sinj, and high school at the “Josip Hatze” music school in Split. In 1995, she graduated from the Academy of Music in Zagreb. During her studies in 1992, she made her debut at the Croatian National Theater in Split, singing in the opera “Adele and Mara” (J. Hatze). The opera was followed by a series of roles in operas: “Rigoletto (G. Verdi), “Carmen” (G. Bizet), “Carmina Burana” (C. Orff), “Gianni Schichi” (G. Puccini ), “Orpheus in the Underworld” (J. Offenbach), “Blood Wedding” (M. Krstičević)…
In 2001, she started teaching at the “Josip Hatze” music school in Split. She is the winner of a number of regional, national and international awards at competitions for students and music students in the discipline of solo singing. In 2007, she was awarded by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports and the Agency for Education of the Republic of Croatia for excellent results in working with student singers in the school year 2006/2007 (seven regional and five national awards). She received thanks from the Education Agency for her excellent results in working with students for the school year 2010/2011 and 2012/2013. For many years, she has been participating as a member of the international judging committee in the discipline of solo singing.
In 2014, she earned the title of mentor professor. In addition to his devotion to his teaching profession, he has been successfully involved in humanitarian work for many years as a member of the Lions Club “Marul” Split (initiator of awarding scholarships to the best students in the Split-Dalmatia County, and organizer of a series of humanitarian concerts for the purpose of student scholarships). Since 2009, she is the president of the committee and the organizer of the international competition of young musicians Lions “Grand prix” for the southern region of the Republic of Croatia. From 2010-2012 she held the position of president of the Theater Council of the Croatian National Theater in Split and was also a member of the Theater Council of the City Youth Theater Split until 2014. She is a member of the Association of Music Artists (HDGU) and the Croatian Music Union (HGU).
